New Product Introduction

Streamline NPI to launch products faster and flawlessly

Brandauer’s New Product Introduction (NPI) capability and dedicated working space cover the complete process of conceptualising parts and products through to full-scale manufacture and delivery.

NPI is a crucial part of any manufacturing process and is used across all industries and sectors. It’s the structured process that takes a product or component from a 2D drawing all the way to full-scale, repeatable production. It ensures all technical, commercial and operational elements are assessed and implemented to ensure maximum output for both supplier and customer.

Advantages of NPI and Brandauer’s processes

Reduction of long-term project costs by tapping into DFM processes.

Key communication between supplier and customer ensures a trusting relationship is built before manufacturing begins.

Reduction of scrap through strip-layout re-design and efficiency testing.

In-house management for quick, real-time feedback on component development.

Unification of internal teams through project management and development, ensuring alignment before production begins.

Structured NPI is a perfect breeding ground for natural innovation

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Brandauer has long relied on the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to give customers – primarily in the automotive sector, though available to non-automotive clients as well – confidence in both the quality of supplied components and the production processes used.

PPAP is a safeguard; it allows customers to have peace of mind when entering a long-term strategic manufacturing partnership with a supplier. For Brandauer, it gives a platform to showcase developed, specific design and manufacturing operations that adhere to whatever tolerances may be required.

  • Ensure that the chosen supplier can meet the manufacturability and quality requirements of the parts supplied to the customer.
    • Provide evidence that the customer engineering design record and specification requirements are clearly understood and fulfilled by the supplier
    • Demonstrate that the established manufacturing process has the potential to produce the part, consistently meeting all requirements during the actual production run at the quoted production rate of the manufacturing process

Part 1 – Preparing for Manufacture

Every Brandauer component goes through a stringent NPI process before any manufacturing begins. Brandauer’s NPI process begins even before an order is raised with Brandauer. From the moment an initial RFQ is sent through to Brandauer, the team undergoes feasibility and DFM reviews, with the sales team consistently communicating with the design and NPI teams. This ennsures the component not only fits within Brandauer’s capability scope, but also that a partnership with Brandauer is going to be valuable for all parties.

Once this is completed and a purchase order is raised, a full feasibility and DFM review is carried out, with ongoing communication between the customer and Brandauer. This ensures that the tool, stamped part, or manufacturing process is optimised for tighter tolerances, greater consistency, improved efficiency, and a more streamlined workflow, saving both time and money for Brandauer and the customer.
