CAD studio

Brandauer’s CAD Studio turns complex designs into production-ready concepts using advanced modelling and engineering insight. This area of Brandauer is crucial in ensuring success when production begins in the future.

Transform ideas into manufacturable designs with expert CAD support

Brandauer’s CAD designers are integrated into the toolroom and act as the bridge between development and finished components, going from a computer design to a physical component. This department – like many – is crucial for the everyday running of Brandauer and without it, many precision engineering projects we have completed today would simply not be possible.

Brandauer’s CAD studio is configured with the most up-to-date software and systems, which are vital when dealing with the precision requirements of any given component or tooling specification. Coupling this with Brandauer’s expert CAD engineers and designers, who all have a deep understanding of engineering principles and a sound knowledge of material properties, stamping technology and automated manufacturing processes and assembly methods.

Visi Progress

Visi Progress is the dedicated platform chosen by Brandauer to provide the business with essential press tool design fluidity for exceptional quality and speed to market.

For many companies, speed to market is critical to the success of a project, although delivering at pace without compromising on quality can bring its own challenges.

To ensure smooth tool design, Brandauer invested in the Visi Progress software to ensure all potential problems at the press tool design stages are mitigated, with a full life cycle end-to-end use. This enables the team to quickly determine the positioning of elements such as punches and pillars before seamlessly moving into the manufacture and construction of the complete press tool.

Part 2 – The Transition

Once a project has completed the NPI feasibility and DFM checks, it progresses to the CAD studio, a key stage in the journey of a Brandauer component, where components shift from a 2D drawing to a defined 3D model. Using programs such as Visi software, the team works closely with customers and other internal departments to develop a manufacturable solution, whether through strip layout development, tooling design or component optimisation.

This CAD process is fully integrated into Brandauer’s internal supply chain, enabling continuous collaboration between design and manufacturing team to ensure a smooth transition from concept to production.
