But there’s always more than meets the eye. Whilst the components we manufacture are very small and mostly unseen to you or me, the processes and equipment used to create these components are certainly not small!

Brandauer’s capabilities span a wide range of applications within the bathroom, from ensuring a nice, steady flow of warm water in your shower to giving a smooth, clean shave. Some of these components are designed to last decades, and strict quality and manufacturing processes must be met throughout production.

For many homes, the kitchen is considered the heart of the home. Used multiple times throughout the day, the kitchen is a hive of activity… but did you know that throughout many kitchen appliances, there are multiple instances where you are relying on a Brandauer component? Boiling the water in your kettle, the lighting in your kitchen, and even the water coming from your tap all rely on Brandauer components to ensure proper functioning.

Even after you shut the door behind you, Brandauer still plays a key role in your everyday routine. The hidden driver in drone applications
Brandauer produces propulsion devices in the form of electrical steel laminations, which help power a range of drones, all differing in size and design. These applications can go into the defence industry, consumer industry and more.
Medical presence when you need it most
Brandauer’s presence in the medical sector spans further than just consumable healthcare products. With components for medical device connectors, instrument connectors, small scissor blade blanks and even stamped components for surgical implants, Brandauer plays a crucial role in manufacturing these processes. Coupling this with our stringent quality processes and extreme precision capabilities, it naturally lends us to providing components in this sector.
A huge process for tiny components
Whilst the components we make are small and most of the time invisible, the processes that have been put in place to ensure proper working are neither of those things!
From the moment Brandauer secures a new project – no matter the industry – it goes through a series of checkpoints and several teams before it gets to the production stages of manufacturing.
Beginning with New Product Introduction (NPI) – when a project is initially kicked off – it’s important to start with the basics to ensure any potential manufacturing pitfalls or issues are resolved, before investment from both parties. This is done through DFM reviews and optimisation to ensure that, when manufacturing begins, it’s as efficient and cost-effective as possible for the customer.
Taking this through the prototyping stages, if a customer requests the component to be tested beforehand, we can test and validate the component before full investment into the tool. It also gives the customer options to begin production with Brandauer in lower volumes if the products were to require it.
The project then gets taken to the design process, where the team designs the strip layout for the tool and the tool itself. This process was validated and considered during the Design For Manufacture (DFM) stage, so when the final tool is designed, you can be sure that the team have provided you with the best possible tool for the job.
That is before the product even reaches the press. Once all the above stages are complete, the component is taken into the press, where it can be stamped and shipped to the customer.

Although these components go unseen, the process used to manufacture them is certainly not; decades of experience, time and energy go into making these tiny components, and it’s something Brandauer has been doing for over a century.
