The future of engineering lies in the hands of today’s youth, and as part of the MAN Group, Brandauer is taking a proactive approach to nurturing this next generation of innovators.
The Design & Make Challenge 2025, scheduled for Tuesday 8th July at the University of Warwick, promises to be an extraordinary opportunity for students to engage in STEM education and experience hands-on engineering in a creative and engaging environment, helping to prepare them for engineering careers.

What makes this engineering challenge special?
This one-day engineering challenge event goes beyond traditional classroom learning, offering students in Years 10, 11 and 12 the chance to dive deep into the real world of design and manufacturing.
Participants will face the exciting challenge of designing, prototyping, and building a mechanical device using basic tools and materials. This hands-on approach mirrors the actual engineering process, from initial concept to final production.

A blueprint for success
The engineering and manufacturing industries stand as pillars of our future, driven by creative thinking, innovative ideas and efficient designs. The Design & Make Challenge 2025 encapsulates these elements by:
- Providing students with practical, hands-on engineering experience
- Encouraging creative problem-solving in a competitive environment
- Offering opportunities to prototype and test original designs
- Fostering teamwork and collaboration
- Connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application

Competition and recognition
The challenge culminates in a testing phase where teams showcase their creations. Awards will be presented in three key categories:
- Most Innovative Solution
- Best Design in Manufacturing
- Most Efficient Design
These categories reflect the diverse skills and approaches valued in the engineering industry, from creative innovation to practical efficiency.

Why young engineers matter
To ensure the future of the industry, it has never been more important to engage young minds in engineering and manufacturing. The Design & Make Challenge 2025 demonstrates that while life might be a blueprint, success is manufactured through creativity, dedication, and hands-on experience.
