About LORD International

Founded in 1930, LORD International is one of the top five global manufacturers of wet shaving systems. Headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt, the company has grown from being the Middle East’s first blade manufacturer to a worldwide supplier of grooming products, serving over 70 countries across five continents and employing more than 3,500 people.

The challenge

LORD International required a strategic manufacturing partner to supply ultra-precise stainless-steel components for its latest generation of disposable razors. The components needed to meet exacting quality standards at volume, with no margin for error.

With customer satisfaction hinging on flawless performance, LORD needed a supplier that could design and deliver complex tooling, maintain ultra-tolerances, and scale efficiently for global distribution.

The solution

Building on experience gained from supplying stamped razor frames to another customer in the Middle East, Brandauer used its stainless-steel stamping expertise to meet LORD’s technical and volume requirements.

The project involved the design and manufacture of four-module progression tooling, the installation of three dedicated production cells, and nearly £800,000 investment in presses, automated lines and supporting equipment. Brandauer now produces up to 500 razor frames every minute, supplying complete frame assemblies for final integration in Egypt.

The partnership was driven by proactive international trade activity, with Brandauer leveraging support from the Department for Business and Trade and the West Midlands Combined Authority to reach new export markets, exhibit globally, and build brand presence overseas.

The results

The strategic alliance with LORD International has created a £4 million export opportunity for Brandauer, generating close to £1 million in annual revenue. It has created skilled jobs, supported the upskilling of apprentices, and expanded Brandauer’s export reach to 27 countries – with further increases expected in the coming months.
